Acupuncture

AcupunctureAcupuncture is a complex medical system, used to diagnose and treat illness, improve well-being and prevent disease.  Acupuncture has been used in China for thousands of years, and is the world’s most widely practised, drug-free, healthcare therapy.  Its effectiveness is increasingly recognised in the West, and it is compatible with orthodox medicine.

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture theory is based on maintaining the balance of energies (Yin and Yang) in the body.  Energy flows through twelve main channels (meridians) in the body, and the use of acupuncture can maintain a healthy flow of this energy.

Many conditions may respond well to acupuncture. If you would like to discuss your individual needs, contact Marie.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Assessment

A detailed assessment is carried out on your first visit to the acupuncture clinic. All aspects of the person are taken into consideration when the assessment is being made.

Past and current medical history, lifestyle, diet, mental and emotional factors are all part of the evaluation.

Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic skills are used.  These include tongue and pulse diagnosis.

A root and branch treatment strategy is established, focusing on both the presenting condition and underlying cause – in contrast to Western medicine which often will only treat the symptoms.  Along with very fine needles, gentle heat and cupping may also be used for certain conditions.  Since each person is unique, the number treatments required will vary.  You may also be given advice on diet and lifestyle.

Electro-acupuncture, which has an excellent record of offering pain relief, is available at this clinic.

All needles used in the Clinic are sterile, individually packaged, single-use and disposable.

The entire treatment is safeguarded by total confidentiality.

The Clinic is located in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to Ballynahinch, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.  It is convenient to Newcastle, Downpatrick, Saintfield, Hillsborough and Carryduff.  Marie also holds clinics at Synergy Healthcare, Cregagh Road, Belfast.
